RECOMMENDED FOR THE MEDAL OF HONOR IN 1953

Barfield was recommended for the medal on three different occasions : once in 1953 again in 1996 and
the third time in 1998

He has three eyewitnesses, all living, to his actions. All of these witnesses have sent notarized affidavits to the Pentagon.
